I love this easy niche idea

As promised on Twitter, here is my case study on what looks like an easy niche with HUGE potential!

Note: you can read past issues of the Niche Ranger newsletter here.

How did I find this site?

Well, I love exploring and discovering new niche ideas. I am sure you can relate to feeling like a kid in a candy store when you spot a cool new niche idea or a low competition one.

When it comes to content, SEO and websites, I love researching, analysing, and testing new ideas. I could do it all day!

But it can be harder to find new ideas now. And with all the algorithm updates, choosing the right, profitable niche is more important than ever.

So when my niche site buddy Ian (over at Niche Site Growth) told me he was developing a new tool that would give you that sweet shop feel at the click of a button, I was excited!

And given Ian's expertise in SEO and growing sites (I even bought one from him before), I knew it was going to be good.

I am not joking - within five minutes of logging in and playing with the filters, I had found an absolute GEM. I even emailed Ian to let him know my enthusiastic feedback!

I mean, how many niche sites get to at least 60,000 visits/month with well under 100 backlinks?!

And that traffic number is just an estimate - it is likely a lot more as we know Ahrefs and similar tools under-report site visits!

And this is just 1 of 96,244 niche site ideas in the Site Stats Database. That number will soon surge past 100K sites as Ian will be adding to the pool every month!

So how DID I find this gem?

Once I was inside the database, I found this site using a super simple 3-step method. Feel free to use it if you like.

And don't worry, I'll get to the site in a minute, but if you want to use the tool, this process will help prevent you from potentially getting overwhelmed and losing your way in a mountain of data!

Almost 100,000 sites, remember!

This is my simple process, based on what I feel will give the best results when you go looking for those gems:

  1. Est. monthly traffic: I want sites with traffic numbers that are realistic to achieve within the first year or so. So I set the range here between 1,000 - 50,000 visits/month (roughly).
  2. Date registered: I prefer to see sites that are relatively new. We know older sites generally do better. But again, if we want to see some good results from our efforts and investment within a year or two, we want sites that are around a year or two old! So I set this filter to dates between 2021-2023.
  3. Performance Score: As mentioned on the database: this takes into account traffic, DA, and date registered. Websites with a higher score are outliers that perform exceptionally well compared to other sites. I set this to 20-50 (feel free to play around with that).

What is the site?

OK, now for the moment you've been waiting for! The site I found via the database is...

checkenglishword

This is a site in the Education niche which serves the billions of non-native (and native!) English speakers around the world who need answers to grammar and spelling-related questions.

Example ranking keywords include "success or sucess" (a check for the correct spelling), and over 13,000 other keywords!

So how many people are in your potential market here? (should you decide to try this niche).

Well, I'll leave this one to Google:

Is that a big enough target market for us site builders then? :-)

Key site stats (includes estimates):

  • Domain age: the domain was registered on November 16, 2021.
  • Ranking for over 13,000 keywords!
  • The first site visits were registered in Ahrefs on January 18, 2022.
  • Getting over 50K visits/month as per Ahrefs (likely to be higher - I guess 60K+).
  • Monetised with Ezoic (rough revenue estimate is $600-1,000/month at a $0.10 EPMV).

Reasons I love this niche (Pros):

  • RIDICULOUSLY easy and fast to create content for a site like this (use AI or actual writers, and edit with a native speaker or proofreader!)
  • Very low competition as far as I can see. Sure, there will be established sites, but it looks like you can rank pretty fast if you execute this idea well. This site has gotten to likely well over 50,000 monthly visits since the beginning of last year.
  • Few backlinks needed: I can't believe this site only has 69 backlinks and 45 referring domains! That means you could do some basic link building and maybe some guest posts and niche edits to get it moving. Or maybe no link building at all for the first while.

Potential cons:

  • Potential low EPMVs/RPMS: this is not a commercial niche, and so affiliate revenue is likely to be limited. CheckEnglishWord is on Ezoic, even though it could technically qualify for Mediavine. As per Ahrefs, they are doing over 50K visits/month. But it may not be a suitable fit for the premium ad networks.
  • Potential SGE risk: like many niches, the introduction of AI-generated answers on Google may mean people will get their answers without having to click through to these type of sites (or not as much). However, I don't see this as a big risk as 1) people will still want to dig deeper for a greater understanding and deeper answers, and 2) it looks like Google is pulling back on how visible SGE will be on the SERPs (check Barry Schwartz / @RustyBrick's updates for more. Recent shots of the SGE panel on Google show an "SGE-Lite" version with a much smaller panel - I feel this is what we will see roll out eventually. And if searchers don't use it or like the AI panel, you know it won't last!

So there you have it! I hope this case study was helpful. If you liked it, hit reply to let me know.

And if you have any questions about using the Site Stats Database, let me know too!

Here are some questions and further details on this very cool tool (which I will be using a LOT - can you tell yet?!).

What about the price?

Ian is currently running a launch special, and he says now is the best time to buy.

You can get the lifetime deal for 50% off. That sounds like the best deal to me as you'll have the tool for life, and you'll get all the free updates and additional fresh sites every month.

96,244 niche site ideas...and more every month! The niche in this case study is just one of thousands of ideas you can choose from.

The monthly and yearly plans are discounted as well.

I am sure the price will only go one way as feedback and reviews flow in , so if you are like me and want ALL the data, then now has to be the best time to buy.

What data do I get inside the database?

You can sort and filter the database by every single metric.

The metrics are:

  • Monthly traffic (estimated)
  • Total keywords the site ranks for
  • Domain Authority
  • Total backlinks
  • Domain registration date
  • Performance score (my own in-house calculation that highlights sites that are performing exceptionally well)
  • Monetization method

Note: I am an affiliate for the tool - but only because as you can tell, I love these kind of products and only recommend tools and products I use or have used!

Thanks for reading the case study, and I hope have a great weekend!
