Remember that new lead gen site I said I was going to launch very soon? (Read my latest update if you haven't already for the deets).

It's an EMD (exact match domain) targeting a niche + local service in the States.

I launched the site on Wednesday and submitted it to GSC.

When I checked on Thursday (or it might have been Wednesday night), it was indexed.

Then yesterday, it was ranking!

I've seen this so many times with local EMDs. They index and rank crazy fast.

So, it is ranking for its domain name, already sitting in position 44 on a search in that location (mid-way down page 5). So if it were "RoofersBurbank dot com", it is ranking for that phrase.

I'm adding more pages via ChatGPT, interlinking a little and I've submitted a sitemap. I invested some time in creating a logo but couldn't get it to fit within the screen on mobile, so I went back to just a text logo!

Keep it simple and all.

I'll keep adding new pages and requesting in GSC. As long as they are getting indexed and ranking somewhere, I'll keep building out the site!

But page 5 in two days is pretty great, eh? Where could it be in 3 months, 6 months - or even 6 weeks?

I'm going all-in on this site when it comes to lead gen. Got to get this one working before I even look at other locations. The goal is to rent this site out to a local business for a flat fee or drive meaningful revenue via a partner network. I would prefer the latter but it will depend on the return.

As hands-off as possible is the goal here.

Medium

A reader emailed me yesterday to ask why I hadn't talked about Medium after I mentioned it in my intro! I did spot that too but said I'd leave it for another email as the newsletter was long enough as it was.

In any case, I started writing and publishing on Medium in September 2023. I did it for around six weeks but felt the time investment wasn't worth the return. So I parked it. A few weeks ago, I was curious and logged into my account to have a look. I saw I had doubled my follower count (from around 50 to over 100) without doing anything there all year!

So, I went back and started writing there again. I write on a mix of topics from wellbeing to writing tips to productivity. I write because I really enjoy it and want to help people as much as I can.

The Medium interface is a thing of beauty too. It's super easy to get started there - sign up with Google or an email and just start writing! If you become a member for $5/month, you can monetise your writing too. Don't expect much though - I've had over 400 reads this month so far and have made over $20! That's a nice bonus though - pays for multiple coffees! And I love my coffee!
