I hope you are well and I figured you were due an update on my adventures with rank and rent/local lead generation! Just a quick note: Local SEO and rank and rent is blowing up right now! But if it isn't your cup of tea, don't worry—I'm still fully committed to my niche sites and am publishing regularly on my main one - more to follow on that... But back to rank and rent/lead gen, and....I'm excited and pleased to announce that (drumroll): My rank and rent business is officially in PROFIT! But what's far bigger than that achievement is that every single payment I receive for a job generated for a business owner from here on is pure, unadulterated, 100% PROFIT! How come?Because the set up, running costs and time required to operate this business are MINIMAL! This adds up to pure profit once you're using organic traffic, have started to rank and have found a good business owner to work with. Let's break it downIn a recent short update, I shared how I had registered 33 domains (Err, that might have increased to 35 in the past week). The cost for those 35 domains comes to about $175 (just under $5 per domain). However, the majority of those domains are not doing much, mostly because I came to the realization I only had time to focus on a few at a time (haven't we all learned that lesson - oftentimes the hard way?!). The profit I am talking about has all come from 4-5 garden maintenance/landscaping sites - one of which covers a broad area with the others focused on specific towns and cities. So 4-5 sites = approx. $25 in costs at a domain level. Throw in $20 for my ChatGPT subscription, which I use to fire up AI content on my sites with minor editing, and you're talking costs of just under $50 for the set up of these sites plus content. By the way, I get the content up on my pages, add a contact form, submit to Search Console for indexing, and bam - I'm ranking within 24-48 hours. This means my costs to date for these gardening sites are around $50. Now what other business can you start for 50 dollars where you're making clear profit after a few months, and where you're spending a couple of hours a week on it? Here's a view of the inquiries I've gotten on my main gardening site in the past 48 hours. This doesn't include all of them as this is just one site! I'm at around 9-10 leads since Saturday. My current arrangement with the business owner is $50 per job. This means if even 3 of these inquiries turn into jobs, I'll have made $150 clear profit for sending a bunch of WhatsApp messages - serving up leads/jobs on a platter and helping a real-life small business in the process (one of the best parts). I mean, I'm helping put food on the table for a small business as well as my own - not some company making millions from ad management or a company with an affiliate programme (not that there is anything wrong with that, clearly!). And a couple of days ago, I received my first Stripe payment! Create a Stripe account if you don't already have one, set up a product, grab a payment link and share it with your business owner! Magic :) All in all, I've made a 6x return on my investment so far - and I've only just gotten started. Now, am I saying this business is a piece of cake? Of course not. Show me a business that is! It takes time, effort, commitment, working on "tedious" tasks, and it can be repetitive - like most businesses at times I reckon. You also need to get on the phone (or WhatsApp, at least!), and approach, ya know, real life humans! You can do it by email too, if you must, but it'll take you longer. Just feel the discomfort and go do it anyway - you'll feel better than if you never tried! But it's a ridiculously simple (if not easy) model, and one that can run like clockwork once you have your systems set up. And local SEO is INFINITELY easier than trying to rank info content (again, see that screenshot above!). My record for ranking a local site with an EMD (exact match domain) is 10 DAYS (really). After all, you're not competing with the entire world - you're competing with other local businesses, many of them not doing SEO very well (although that has changed over time). But go grab an EMD and experiment with this, even if you never plan to start rank and rent - because it's just fun! What questions do you have?I've gotten various questions on the model over on Twitter (@NicheRanger). Many revolve around choosing a niche, revenue models with business owners, and so on. I'm happy to share what I've learned, but as with any new venture, I highly recommend having a "mentor" and learning from others who have achieved what you want to achieve. What approach could be simpler than that? Let me introduce you to a nice English chap named Jeremy. Starting out way back in wintry January 2024, I learned a lot from a guy called Jeremy Williams on YouTube. His videos are uber-helpful, he shares a lot of detailed info and does it all without claiming this business model is a piece of cake (it ain't!). His content is full of common sense, good old fashioned down to earth tips. If you're interested in pursuing the rank and rent / lead gen model, I'm happy to answer your questions, but Jeremy has been doing this for a long time. So, I highly recommend checking out the following resources:1) Jeremy's rank and rent community where you can get practical, 24/7 support and interact with fellow rank and renters on the same journey as you! I was one of the first few members of the community and highly active there starting out - so much so that Jeremy gave me free access starting out! 2) His free YouTube content (a goldmine, trust me!). I still watch most of his new videos and I've watched Jeremy go from zero to over 1K subscribers since he started early this year. 3) And if you want a step-by-step process to go from Day 1 to profit like I have - and Jeremy has - then check out his in-depth, top-rated rank and rent course. I'll be back soon with another update. Anton, AKA the "spend $50, make $300 clear profit for starters from lead gen" Niche Ranger :D I wish you the best of luck with all your projects. P.S. if you want to start or scale a rank and rent business, and I could share just one recommendation above, it would be Jeremy's rank and rent community. It'll answer a LOT of your questions and provide invaluable support along the way - which as we know is so important when you work by yourself a lot. Note: this email contains affiliate links and I may earn a commission if you buy through one - thank you if you do. It takes time to write these emails and so it makes it even more worthwhile. |
I built my niche site from 0 to 600K visits/month before a multiple 6-figure sale in 2021. Now I work on a variety of online projects while aiming to keep shiny objects at bay. I email 1-2x per week with insights and nuggets into what's working for me when it comes to generating traffic and revenue online. See you inside!
Remember that new lead gen site I said I was going to launch very soon? (Read my latest update if you haven't already for the deets). It's an EMD (exact match domain) targeting a niche + local service in the States. I launched the site on Wednesday and submitted it to GSC. When I checked on Thursday (or it might have been Wednesday night), it was indexed. Then yesterday, it was ranking! I've seen this so many times with local EMDs. They index and rank crazy fast. So, it is ranking for its...

Hi folks, I hope you are doing well!
